Pastor’s Thoughts
Working Together Toward One Goal
There’s a beautiful picture painted in Scripture of what it means to serve God together. Paul said it best in 1 Corinthians 12, that we are many members, but one body. Each part has its own role, its own function, and its own purpose. The hand doesn’t try to be the eye, and the foot doesn’t envy the ear. Every part is essential, and when each one fulfills its calling, the whole body moves forward in strength.
It’s easy to think that serving God only happens in the pulpit or on the stage. But the truth is, the church functions because of those who serve faithfully in unseen ways. The one who greets at the door, the one who prays over the chairs before anyone arrives, the one who cleans up after service, the one who encourages a child in class—all of these are vital parts of the same mission. When each person operates in their God-given place, the church begins to look like the living, breathing body of Christ that it was meant to be.
I once heard an illustration about an orchestra that I’ve never forgotten. When an orchestra performs, there are dozens of different instruments—some loud, some soft, some leading the melody, and others providing rhythm or harmony. Imagine if everyone in the orchestra decided they wanted to play the trumpet because it was the loudest. The result would be chaos. The beauty of the music comes from every musician playing their part faithfully, following the same sheet of music, and watching the same conductor.
That’s what it means to serve together in the church. We may have different gifts, talents, and callings, but we are all following the same Conductor—Jesus Christ. When we keep our eyes on Him, our differences don’t divide us, they create harmony. When one part celebrates, we all celebrate. When one part hurts, we all feel it. The beauty of the church isn’t found in uniformity, but in unity.
God didn’t design us to be spectators in His Kingdom. He called us to be participants. The church isn’t a concert to attend; it’s a symphony to join. Every act of service matters. Every role counts. Whether you’re teaching a class, leading worship, praying behind the scenes, or stacking chairs at the end of the night, you are contributing to the same Kingdom melody.
My prayer this week is that we would remember how powerful it is when God’s people serve together with one heart and one purpose. Let’s each take our place in the orchestra, follow the direction of our Conductor, and watch how beautifully God’s plan unfolds when His people play in harmony.
Celebrating New Life in Christ!
We rejoiced as two believers followed Christ in believer's baptism at Salt & Light this week. We
give thanks to God for the work He is doing in their lives. Let’s continue to encourage and walk
alongside them as they grow in faith.
Join us in celebrating:
