Our Beliefs

The Core of Our Faith and Doctrine
At Salt & Light Church, we believe the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and life. Our doctrine is grounded in Scripture, centered on Christ, and guided by the Holy Spirit. We seek to live faithfully in every generation — standing firm on God’s truth with conviction, compassion, and courage.

The Godhead

We believe in one Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — co-eternal and co-equal, one in essence yet distinct in person. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-present, and perfectly good.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Genesis 1:1)

God the Father

God the Father reigns as sovereign King over all creation. He is eternal, merciful, and gracious—slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Yet He is also holy, righteous, and just, judging sin and upholding His perfect standard of truth.
He is a jealous God who tolerates no rival to His glory and will one day pour out His righteous wrath upon all ungodliness.
All things exist and hold together according to His divine will, purpose, and plan of redemption.
(1 Timothy 1:17; Exodus 34:6–7; Nahum 1:2–3; Deuteronomy 4:24; Romans 1:18)

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for sin, and rose bodily from the dead.
He ascended to heaven, where He intercedes for believers as High Priest, Mediator, and Advocate, and He will return visibly and victoriously to rule forever.
(John 1:1–14; Romans 3:24–26; 1 Peter 2:24; Philippians 2:5–11)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is not an impersonal power, but the third Person of the Triune God — fully divine and eternally present.
He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; regenerates and seals all who believe; and indwells every believer as the abiding presence of God.
The Holy Spirit comforts, teaches, and empowers Christians for holy living, prayer, and witness. He gives spiritual gifts for ministry, unites believers in the body of Christ, and guides the Church into all truth.
(John 14:16–17, 26; John 16:8–11; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9–16; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7; Ephesians 1:13–14)

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible — both Old and New Testaments — is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. It is the supreme and final authority for faith and practice, revealing God’s truth and pointing us to Jesus Christ.
(2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21; Psalm 19:7–10; Hebrews 4:12)

Creation

We believe that God created the heavens and the earth and all that exists by His spoken Word, in six literal days, as described in Genesis.
Creation was completed in perfection, with no death, decay, or sin until the fall of man.
Humanity did not evolve by chance or natural process but was uniquely formed by God in His own image, possessing purpose, dignity, and eternal worth.
We affirm a young earth as consistent with the clear teaching of Scripture and the genealogies given in God’s Word.
(Genesis 1:1–31; Exodus 20:11; John 1:1–3; Colossians 1:16–17; Hebrews 11:3)

Man and Sin

Man was created by God, in His image, to know Him and glorify Him. Through Adam’s disobedience, all humanity fell into sin, becoming separated from God and unable to save themselves. Only through repentance and faith in Christ can we be restored.
(Genesis 1:26–27; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1–9)

Salvation

Salvation is the free gift of God’s grace, received by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.
It cannot be earned by good works or human effort. True repentance — turning from sin to God — is the result and evidence of genuine faith produced by the Holy Spirit.
Salvation rests on the finished work of Christ: His death, burial, and resurrection.
(Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10; Acts 3:19; John 3:16; Titus 3:4–7)

Baptism

We believe baptism is an outward expression of inward faith. Following salvation, believers are baptized by immersion, symbolizing their death to sin and new life in Christ.
(Matthew 3:13–17; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3–4)

Communion (The Lord’s Supper)

We observe the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a proclamation of His death until He returns. Communion is for believers and serves as a time of reflection, unity, and worship.
(1 Corinthians 11:23–26; Luke 22:19–20)

Marriage and Family

We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God for companionship, procreation, and the reflection of Christ’s relationship with His Church.
The family is the first institution ordained by God, and parents are responsible to train their children in the instruction and discipline of the Lord.
(Genesis 2:24; Ephesians 5:22–33; Ephesians 6:1–4)

Human Sexuality and Gender

We believe God created humanity male and female as part of His perfect design. Gender is not self-determined but divinely given. Any form of sexual immorality, including adultery, fornication, homosexuality, and pornography, is contrary to God’s Word.
All people are loved by God and offered redemption through Jesus Christ.
(Genesis 1:27; Matthew 19:4–6; Romans 1:26–27; 1 Corinthians 6:9–11)

The Sanctity of Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image — from conception to natural death. Every person is worthy of love, dignity, and protection, including the unborn, the elderly, the disabled, and the marginalized.
(Psalm 139:13–16; Jeremiah 1:5; Proverbs 31:8–9)

Angels, Satan, and Spiritual Warfare

We believe God created angels as ministering spirits. Some, led by Satan, rebelled and became fallen angels (demons). Satan is the adversary of God and His people but is a defeated foe whose end is certain.
Believers are called to stand firm against spiritual darkness through the power of Christ and the armor of God.
(Ephesians 6:10–12; 1 Peter 5:8; Revelation 20:10)

The Church

The Church is the body and bride of Christ, composed of all believers across all ages and nations. Each local congregation is autonomous, governed under Christ as Head.
The Church exists to glorify God, make disciples, and bring the gospel to every nation. We link arms not just in defense but in offense — advancing the light of Christ into every corner of our culture.
(Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:42–47; Ephesians 4:11–16)

Civil Government

We believe God has ordained civil government for the good of mankind and the restraint of evil. Christians are called to pray for and honor governing authorities while boldly standing for righteousness and truth in the public square.
(Romans 13:1–7; 1 Timothy 2:1–2; Acts 5:29)

The Return of Christ

We believe in the blessed hope — the personal, visible, and imminent return of Jesus Christ. He will judge the living and the dead, establish His kingdom, and reign forever.
(Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 22:12–13)

Cultural Engagement and Truth

Salt & Light Church stands unapologetically on the authority of Scripture. We believe truth does not change with culture, and the Church must speak with clarity and love in an age of confusion.
We will not shy away from addressing local or national issues where God’s Word is clear. We believe that faith must influence every sphere — personal, cultural, and political — as we live as ambassadors of Christ in this world.
(Matthew 5:13–16; Romans 12:2; Ephesians 6:13–14)

Final Word

We exist to glorify God, proclaim His Word, and make disciples of Jesus Christ. In a culture that wavers, we will stand on truth; where darkness advances, we will shine His light.
We are not ashamed of the gospel — it is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe.
(Romans 1:16)
