There is an application process, followed by a family interview. This aids in making sure the school is a good fit for your family and that we are able to serve your student. When a family is turned away, this is a case by case basis.

During Phase I, the church and school share the current building. Classrooms are throughout, while we ensure our lower school (K5-5th) and upper school (6th-8th) are in seperate areas of the building.

We encourage our teachers to have classes outside as much as possible.

We have expanded to K-8 for the 25/26 school year. We are working on the plan to 9th grade for the 26/27 school year.

While do have a code and conduct and discipline policy, the core of our approach is to reach each child’s heart. For the lower school, we use a program called Honorable Character. This program fosters the sense of self-government and responsibility.

We are very much pen on paper. Part of the Principle Approach methodology uses the 4 R’s which requires a lot of writing; Research, Relate, Reason, and Record.

As we grow into the Highschool years, we understand that we will need to equip them for the world. What that looks like today, we are still building what that will look like.

Students do wear uniforms, and we have a range of colors and styles. We factor in affordability for families. Staff is expected to dress appropriately for a school environment.

Our school day is 8 am – 3:15 pm, Monday - Thursday. During our pilot year and into our second year, we have been able to offer elective classes on Fridays for the first 2 trimesters of the school calendar.

Parents are welcomed and encouraged to be at school during the school day. Anyone interested in volunteering would email michelle.elliott@saltandlightacademy.com.
We use a program called Ministry Safe that allows us to submit background checks. We also use Ministry Safe for their video trainings. We require all volunteers to view these trainings and pass the quiz at the end.

Each year we start the Wednesday of Labor Day week and end the year the Thursday leading into Memorial Day weekend.

Students bring their own lunches.
We also require students to take back home food they did not eat as long as it will not cause a mess in their lunch box.

We open the doors at 7:30 am. Our school day starts with recitation at 8 am.

No. If a student needs to bring their cell phone, communication by the parent must be made and the phone remains in the office until dismissal.
