We are grateful for every person who gives on purpose. These guidelines help us steward the space well, care for our volunteers, and make sure donated items are truly helpful for future shoppers.
Donation hours
- Donations begin March 25
- Accepted Monday through Saturday
- Hours are 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Once the store opens, donations will be accepted during normal store hours
Before you donate
- Please bring items in clean, usable, resellable condition
- Please consider washing clothing before bringing it
- Please avoid items with strong odors, stains, mold, pet damage, or excessive wear
- If possible, group similar items together to help with intake and sorting
What we can and cannot accept.
These standards help us protect our team, maintain quality, and keep the store practical, welcoming, and excellent.
Items we gladly receive
- Clean clothing and shoes
- Housewares and home décor
- Books, games, and toys in good condition
- Furniture including bedframes, dressers, bookshelves, tables, and other usable pieces
- Kitchen items, dishes, and small household goods
- Seasonal décor and holiday items
- Small working appliances, subject to inspection
Items we cannot accept
- Mattresses
- Refrigerators
- Washing machines
- Broken, heavily damaged, or incomplete items
- Items with mold, mildew, smoke damage, infestation, or strong odors
- Hazardous materials, chemicals, paint, or flammables
- Used car seats, recalled baby items, or unsafe equipment
- Opened personal care products or used undergarments

Volunteers are a major part of what will make Salt & Light Thrift possible. If you want to serve on purpose, we would love to help you find your place. Every volunteer will first complete a simple intake and basic training process so we can create a safe, organized, and excellent experience for both the team and the community.

Before serving, you will receive basic guidance for safety, store flow, donation handling, and how we care well for both shoppers and donors.
