Building What Matters Together
You may have seen those Facebook birthday fundraisers that encourage people to give to a nonprofit instead of sending gifts. I’ve always noticed them in passing, but I’ve never taken part in one myself.
But this week I turn 41, and birthdays have begun to feel different. They no longer feel like milestones of progress, but mile-markers of grace. God has given me another year. Another year to serve Him, to shepherd my children and this church, and to watch His hand at work in ways only He can accomplish.
I don’t want to waste the years He gives. I want them poured out on something that matters in eternity.
Salt and Light Church is not an event venue, and Salt and Light Academy is not just a school. This is a work of the Kingdom. Every day, children are hearing the Gospel. They are learning to think biblically about the world and to live faithfully in it. They are being surrounded by teachers who love Christ and who love them. We are forming hearts, not just minds. And we are doing it together.
But this work needs room to grow. The next step in our mission is the purchase, renovation, and expansion of this building and the future school building. The school and the building fund go hand in hand — one cannot continue without the other. The building is not about bricks and beams; it is about people, souls, this generation, and the generations to come.
So, for my birthday this year, I want to ask you to join me in giving toward the Salt and Light Building Fund and the Academy. This is the work God has called us to. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate another year of life than to invest in this Kingdom work. To invest in the children and families who will one day lead, teach, preach, disciple, and shine the light of Christ long after we are gone.
Every gift strengthens the mission. The school is growing. The need for the building is real. And this is something we are building together for the glory of Jesus and the good of families in our community.
Whether you give, pray, or simply encourage — thank you. I am grateful for another year to serve Christ with you. I could not ask for a better church family.
Let’s keep building what matters.

The Real House of David – Part I: The Rise of David
Message: 2 Samuel 2:1-11 who will you serve?
This week we continue The Real House of David as David takes his first steps into kingship. What stands out in this passage is not David’s rise to power, but the way he seeks the Lord before he takes a single step. Meanwhile, others choose to follow their own plans, loyalties, and desires. The contrast is clear: every heart is ruled by something.
On Sunday, we will ask the same question Scripture puts before us:
Who will you serve with your life, your decisions, and your direction?
Come ready to open the Word, examine your heart, and follow Christ with clarity and conviction.
